LA QUINTA, Calif. – The No. 21 Pepperdine men’s tennis team concluded action today at the National Collegiate Tennis Classic.  Going up against student athletes from No. 20 North Carolina, Cal Poly, No. 43 Boise State and No. 32 Arizona, the Waves concluded the weekend with five wins to take into next weekend’s dual season opener versus UC Santa Barbara.

After opening the weekend with back-to-back victories, Alfredo Moreno (Queretaro, Mexico) and Hugh Clarke (Brisbane, Australia) dropped an 8-4 match to North Carolina’s Brennan Boyajian and Jose Hernandez.  Moreno and Clarke are now 2-1 as a pair.

Alejandro Moreno (Queretaro, Mexico) won his opening set against Jeff Mullin of Boise State, but was edged in the second frame 7-5.  In the super breaker set, Moreno fell 10-3


 

 

Moreno also lost a close doubles match along with partner Daniel Moss (Malibu, Calif./Malibu HS).   

The Waves opened the dual season on Sat., Jan. 22 against UC Santa Barbara. Pepperdine hosts the match at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif. at 1 p.m.
