Malibu, Calif. - Former Pepperdine All-American Jason Gore, who was a relative unknown in the golf world prior to last June's U.S. Open, capped a remarkable 2005 season when he was named the Nationwide Tour's "Player of the Year", it was announced on Tuesday.
Gore, who competed at Pepperdine from 1995-97 and helped the Waves claim the 1997 national championship, burst onto the national scene during the U.S. Open when he remained in contention entering the final day.
Following his strong showing at the U.S. Open, Gore went on to claim three consecutive tournament victories on the Nationwide Tour earning him an immediate promotion to the PGA Tour. His victory shortly thereafter at the PGA's 84 LUMBER Classic finished off a dream season that resulted in his selection on the Nationwide Tour.
Gore will be a full-time member on the PGA Tour when the 2006 season begins in January.
