Waves Finish in Sixth at UNC Greensboro
The Waves shot a 304 today at the par-72 Forest Oaks Country Club, giving them a total of 889 (300-285-304). They weren’t alone, as a majority of the tournament’s 14 teams shot over 300 during the final round. Duke won the tournament with a total of 869.
Individually, the best score of the day by the Waves were a couple of 75s.
“I think we’re a little disappointed because we could have played better,” Pepperdine Coach John Geiberger said. “The day started off really windy and cold and it only got windier as the day went on. We’re not really used to this kind of cold, but you have to play in it. There was some good and there was some bad. A few of the guys had good tournaments except for a few bad holes. But we did some things well. We’ll look forward to doing better at our next tournament.”
Redshirt freshman Josh Anderson (Temecula, Calif./Murrieta Valley HS) had the best Pepperdine finish, as his final-round 75 moved him into a tie for 13th place with a 4-over 220 (74-71-75). He had four birdies during his round today.
Sophomore Andrew Putnam (University Place, Wash./Life Christian Academy) began the day in the top 10 but dropped back to a tie for 19th place with a 5-over 221 (75-69-77).
