The No. 19th-ranked Pepperdine men's golf team shot a final-round 1-over par 285 on Tuesday to finish tied for fifth at the Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions being contested at the par-71, 6,932-yard Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Host Tennessee captured the 54-hole event after shooting a final-round score of even-par 284 to finish at 1-over par 853 and register five-shot victory over Alabama at the 15-team tournament. The Crimson Tide finished with a 6-over par score 858.
East Tennessee State (862) placed third and was followed by Virginia (864) while the Waves and Louisville tied for fifth with totals of 14-over par 866.
Georgia Southern's Aron Price shot his third straight 2-under par 69 to finish at 6-under 207 to claim individual medalist honors. Price posted a two-shot victory over East Tennessee State's Rys Davies, who concluded play with a 4-under 209.
Five players tied for third with 3-under par scores of 210. Pepperdine All-American Michael Putnam carded an even-par 71 on Tuesday to tie Tennessee's David Skinns for eighth place with a 2-under total 211.
Pepperdine freshman Colin Wilcox (217) tied for 21st while junior Brian O'Flaherty finished one shot back to tie for 25th.
The Waves are off until November 1, when they open play at The Prestige in La Quinta, California.
