MALIBU, Calif. - Former Pepperdine All-American Michael Putnam is headed back to the PGA Tour in 2014 after a tremendous season saw him finish #1 on the Web.com Tour's money list.

Putnam, who won both the Mexico and Mid-Atlantic Championships, ended his year with $450,184 in earnings. He finished well ahead of second-place Ben Martin, who earned $399,769. Putnam was awarded fully exempt status for the upcoming PGA Tour season and received an invitation to The Players Championship next May.

Three other Waves had good years on the Web.com Tour and finished among the top 50 players on the money list. Byron Smith ($103,796) was 43rd, Jason Gore ($100,390) was 46th and Andrew Putnam was 50th ($95,062). They will still have the chance to qualify for the PGA Tour in the upcoming Web.com Tour Finals. Twenty-five more cards will be given out after four more events are played.

Michael Putnam earned GCAA All-American honors for the Waves in 2005 (first team), 2004 (second team) and 2003 (honorable mention). He was also the winner of the 2005 Byron Nelson Award. He still holds the school records for scoring average in a career (71.61) and season (70.58 in 2004-05).

This will be Putnam's third time on the PGA Tour. He competed at golf's highest level in 2007 and 2011 as well. Jeff Gove was the only Pepperdine product on the PGA Tour in 2013.
