Pepperdine Tied for 11th at NCAA West Regional Championships

Pepperdine senior Alex Coe fired a 3-under par score of 69 on Friday and is tied for fifth place after two rounds of the NCAA West Regional Championships that are being played at the par-72, 7,200-yard OMNI National Golf Club in Tucson, Arizona. Coe has a 36-hole total of 7-under par 137.

Coe helped Pepperdine to a 1-under par score of 287 and two-round total of 6-under 570 that placed the Waves in a tie for 11th place heading into Saturday's final round. The top 10 teams advance to the national championships scheduled for May 31 through June 3 at the Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Oregon.

Host Arizona carded a second-day total of 15-under 273 to assume the second-round lead. The Wildcats, who were one of three teams to shoot 15-under par on Friday, hold a three-shot advantage over North Carolina State and first-round leader Florida.

The Wolf Pack, who also fired a 273, join the Gators at 21-under par 555, two shots in front of fourth-place Arizona State, which also posted a 15-under 273 and is at 19-under par 557.

East Tennessee State (564) is fifth, followed by Loyola Marymount (565), Fresno State (566) and UC Irvine (567). Washington and Nevada are tied for ninth with 7-under par scores of 569. Pepperdine, New Mexico State and Brigham Young are all one stroke back.

Utah's Dustin Pimm fired a 4-under 68 and the leads the individual standings with a 10-under par total of 134. Pimm holds a one-shot lead over North Carolina State's Nathan Spoon, who is at 9-under 135. East Tennessee State teammates Rhys Davies and Gareth Shaw are tied for third at 8-under 136.

Coe, Zach Bixler of Washington, Florida teammates Matt Every and Billy Horschel along with Loyola Marymount's Brian Locke are tied for fifth.

Pepperdine sophomore Colin Wilcox is tied for 17th with a 5-under total of 139 while fellow sophomore Michael Baird and Jesse Barnsley are tied for 81st at 3-over 147. Junior J.J. Wood (148) is tied for 88th.

Pepperdine is scheduled to open its final round at 7:35 a.m. beginning at the 10th hole and will be grouped with Nevada and New Mexico State. All the action can be followed live on the Internet at www.golfstat.com.
