PEPPERDINE LINEUP -- The Waves will put these five players together in the lineup for the first time: senior Josh Anderson (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley HS), junior Johnny Mac Arthur (Newhall, Calif./Hart HS), sophomore Parker Page (Louisville, Ky./Ballard HS) and freshmen Kevin DeHuff (Coto de Caza, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic HS) and Caston Roberts (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert Christian HS). Additionally, sophomore Andreas Adler (Parkview, Hong Kong) and freshman Neil Evans (Phoenix, Ariz./Scottsdale Christian Academy) will compete as individuals.
2011-12 STATISTICS -- After six tournaments, the season-long battle between Johnny Mac Arthur and Josh Anderson for the team's top scoring average is in a dead heat. Both players are averaging 71.93 strokes. Both of them have placed in the top 20 five times, while Anderson was in the top 10 four times (best was a tie for second at the Husky Invitational) and Mac Arthur has done so twice (best was a tie for third at the Arizona Intercollegiate). The statistics for the Waves' other players in the lineup are Page (73.73 in 15 rounds), Roberts (76.38 in eight) and DeHuff (76.70 in 10). The individuals are Evans (79.00 in one) and Adler (83.67 in three).
ANDERSON -- Senior Josh Anderson is Pepperdine's most experienced and accomplished player. He's fourth all-time for the Waves with a 72.99 career scoring average. He has won two career tournaments: the General Hackler Championship in spring 2010 and the Husky Invitational in fall 2010. He's a three-time All-WCC first teamer and a four-time WCC Player of the Month. Among school career records, he also ranks tied for fifth in top 20 finishes (25), tied for sixth in top 10 results (17) and seventh in sub-par rounds (33). It's believed that Anderson became the first active Pepperdine player to compete in a PGA Tour event when he took part in the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines in February 2009, and he participated in the 2011 event as well (now known as the Farmers Insurance Open).
PAGE -- Sophomore Parker Page earned co-medalist honors at the Folino Invitational for his first collegiate victory. He shot 72-71-72 for a total of a 1-under 215.
GEIBERGER -- The 2011-12 season marks John Geiberger's 16th as head coach of Pepperdine. In his first season as coach of the Waves, Geiberger led the team to the 1997 NCAA national title, the first in team history. Under Geiberger's guidance, Pepperdine has won the WCC title 10 times (1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2010) and he has earned the league's Coach of the Year honors on five occasions (1997, 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2005).
2012 NCAAs -- The goal is always to get to the NCAA Championships and in 2012 the Waves have even more reason to want to qualify. The event, hosted by USC, is being held just a short drive down PCH at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades (just about 15 miles from Pepperdine's campus). Pepperdine, which finished 25th at the 2011 NCAA Championships, is attempting to make consecutive NCAA appearances for the second time (1996 and 1997).
PEPPERDINE GOLF HISTORY -- Thanks to its victory at the 1997 NCAA Championships, Pepperdine will always be known on a national level for its outstanding men's golf program. The Waves have made eight appearances at the NCAA Championships since 1993 and have made 13 consecutive NCAA Regional berths. In the West Coast Conference, they've won 17 championships since 1987 and have finished either first or second in 21 of the last 25 years.
ABOUT PEPPERDINE UNIVERSITY -- Pepperdine boasts a one-of-a-kind athletic department with unprecedented success for a school of its size. The Waves have won NCAA Division I championships in five different men's sports - one of just 16 schools to have accomplished this feat - and nine overall. Of this elite group, Pepperdine has the smallest enrollment and is the only school not in a major conference. Located in scenic Malibu, Calif., the university overlooks the Pacific Ocean and its campus and athletic facilities are regularly voted among the nation's most beautiful. Pepperdine, which is affiliated with the Church of Christ, ranks #55 overall on U.S. News and World Report's list of America's best colleges. The 2011-12 school year marks Pepperdine's 75th anniversary.
