Waves Finish 10th At Taylor Made / Waikoloa Intercollegiate In Hawaii

Junior All-American Michael Putnam fired a third-round score of three-under par 69 on Friday and finished with a 54-hole total of seven-under par 209 to tie for fifth place at the Taylor Made / Waikoloa Intercollegiate at the par-72, 7,074-yard Waikoloa Kings Golf Club in Kona, Hawaii.
Putnam, who carded rounds of 72-68-69 for a 209 total, tied Georgia Tech's Chan Wongluekiet and Arkansas' Matt Bortis for fifth place. Oklahoma's Anthony Kim shot a final round 67 to post an 11-under par 205 to finish two strokes ahead of Hawaii-Hilo's Nick Mason and Arizona State's Chez Reavie, who concluded play with nine-under par scores of 207.
Georgia Tech turned in a final-round 10-under par score 278 to register a three-stroke victory over second-place UCLA in the 20-team event. The Yellowjackets finished the tournament with a 23-under par score of 841, while the Bruins shot a 54-hole score of 844. Arkansas (845) placed third, followed by Arizona State (850) and Oklahoma (852). The Sooners earned a Top 5 finish after shooting the day's best round as they carded a 16-under par score of 272.
Pepperdine placed 10th overall as it finished with a two-under par score of 862. The Waves posted their best round of the day on Friday as they shot a final-round total five-under par 283.
Sophomore Alex Coe carded a final-round 68 and finished tied for 42nd with a one-over total of 317. Senior Randy Creighton and junior Brian O'Flaherty tied for 63rd with scores of 221, while sophomore Chris Elliott tied for 86th with a 225 total.
Pepperdine is off until it plays a dual match against USC at North Ranch Country Club in nearby Westlake Village on Wednesday, February 25.
