Putnam Begins Play at All-American Tourney
EL PASO, Texas. - Pepperdine junior Andrew Putnam is tied for 10th place after the first two rounds of the 35th Annual Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic.
Putnam (University Place, Wash./Life Christian Academy) shot a 4-under 138 during Monday's first two rounds at the par-71 El Paso Country Club. The third and final round is on Tuesday.
The tournament field includes 32 players that earned All-American honors from the previous season. Putnam, a two-time All-American, tied for 10th place at the 2008 event.
During his morning round, Putnam had four birdies on his front nine, then one birdie and one bogey on the back nine for a 4-under 67, which put him into a tie for sixth place. During the afternoon round, he shot an even-par 71 that included one bogey and one birdie.
Hunter Garza of Wichita State leads the tournament with an 11-under 131.
