Men's Golf Completes First Tournament of 2012-13

Parker Page was the top-scoring Wave as the Pepperdine men's golf team completed play at the Kikkor Golf Husky Invitational, the squad's first tournament of the 2012-13 season, on Tuesday.
Pepperdine finished in 12th place as a team after shooting a total of 915 (312-300-303) at the par-72 Olympic Course at Gold Mountain Golf Club over the past two days.
Page (Louisville, Ky./Ballard HS), a junior, tied for 28th place with a 9-over 225 (77-74-74). He had three birdies on Tuesday and eight for the tournament.
Freshman Cody McManus (Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista HS) tied for 43rd place at 229 (75-73-81), freshman Frederick Wedel (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands HS) tied for 54th at 233 (78-77-78), junior Jeremy Sanders (Chatsworth, Calif./New Community Jewish HS/Redlands) tied for 57th at 234 (83-76-75) and senior Johnny Mac Arthur (Newhall, Calif./Hart HS) tied for 65th at 239 (82-81-76).
McManus and Wedel each had three birdies during the final round, while Mac Arthur and Sanders each had two.
The Husky Invitational was also running a separate tournament for individuals and sophomore Caston Roberts (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert Christian HS) had a very strong showing as he took third place overall. He shot an even-par 213 (69-72-72) on the par-71 Cascade Course.
The Waves are next in action at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate, hosted by New Mexico, on Sept. 28-29.
