McManus Has Strong Debut for Men's Golf in Washington

Cody McManus, who was making his collegiate debut, was a highlight for the Pepperdine men's golf team as the Waves began the 2012-13 season at the Kikkor Golf Husky Invitational on Monday. As a team, the Waves are in 11th place after two rounds.
McManus (Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista HS) shot 75-73 and is tied for 18th place with a 4-over 148. He had a total of nine birdies on the day, including six during his second round.
The Waves shot 312-300 as a team. The third and final round at the par-72 Olympic Course at Gold Mountain Golf Club is on Tuesday.
Junior Parker Page (Louisville, Ky./Ballard HS) is tied for 30th place at 151 (77-74), freshman Frederick Wedel (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands HS) is tied for 51st at 155 (78-77), junior Jeremy Sanders (Chatsworth, Calif./New Community Jewish HS/Redlands) is tied for 63rd at 159 (83-76) and senior Johnny Mac Arthur (Newhall, Calif./Hart HS) is 67th at 163 (82-81).
Page had five birdies over the two rounds while Sanders and Wedel each had three. Wedel recorded birdies on each of the first two holes of his college career.
The Husky Invitational is running a separate tournament for individuals and sophomore Caston Roberts (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert Christian HS) had a very good day on the par-71 Cascade Course. He took a share of the first-round lead after a 2-under 69 and is now tied for second place with a 1-under 141 (69-72).
