Page Helps Men's Golf to Good Start at ASU Thunderbird Invitational

Parker Page shot a 2-under 69 to help the Pepperdine men's golf team get off to a good start at the Arizona State Thunderbird Invitational on Friday. The Waves are in sixth place after the first round.
Pepperdine shot a 3-over 287 at the par-71 Karsten Golf Course. The second round is on Saturday and the final round is on Sunday.
Page (Louisville, Ky./Ballard HS), a junior, had his best round of the season and is tied for sixth place. He had five birdies on the day and was 4-under at one point late in his round.
Freshman Frederick Wedel (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands HS) also had a strong day, as his 1-under 70 put him into a tie for 12th place. His round began with 10 straight pars and he had two birdies on the back nine.
Also in the lineup, junior Jeremy Sanders (Chatsworth, Calif./New Community Jewish HS/Redlands) is tied for 39th place at 73, redshirt freshman Nick Thomas (Westlake Village, Calif./Chaminade College Prep/California) is tied for 60th at 75 and sophomore Kevin DeHuff (Coto de Caza, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic HS) is tied for 88th at 79. Playing as an individual, freshman Cody McManus (Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista HS) is tied for 51st at 74.
Thomas had four birdies during his round, while DeHuff and McManus each had two. Sanders had nine straight pars on the front nine.
