Anderson Has Strong First Day at Hackler Championship

Josh Anderson of the Pepperdine men's golf team is tied for fifth place after Sunday's first two rounds of the General Hackler Championship and is aiming for his second career title at this event.
Anderson (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley HS) won the 2010 General Hackler Championship when it was played at the TPC of Myrtle Beach. This year's version is at the par-71 DeBordieu Club, and after a 75-69 today, Anderson is five shots behind the leader with a 2-over 144.
The Waves shot 312-299 and are in 11th place in the team standings with a total of 611. The tournament's final 18 holes will be contested on Monday.
After a tough start in the morning round, Anderson came back with a 2-under 69 in the afternoon that included three birdies and just one bogey. He came into the tournament on a run of four straight top-10 finishes, with three of them in the top five.
Also for the Waves, junior Johnny Mac Arthur (Newhall, Calif./Hart HS) is tied for 44th place at 153 (75-78), sophomore Parker Page (Louisville, Ky./Ballard HS) is tied for 56th place at 157 (83-74), freshman Caston Roberts (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert Christian HS) is tied for 77th place at 164 (79-85) and sophomore Alex Forss (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak HS) is in 81st at 166 (88-78). During his first round, Roberts had an eagle on the par-4, 380-yard second hole.
