WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - San Diego State men's golfers finished one-two-three at the Pepperdine-hosted North Ranch Intercollegiate, leading the Aztecs to the team victory by five strokes on Tuesday.

SDSU - led by medalist Matt Hoffenberg and runners-up Alex Kang and J.J. Spaun - shot an 864 over the two-day tournament at the par-70 North Ranch Country Club. The Aztecs, who led after each round, opened Tuesday with a five-shot lead over San Diego and held onto that winning margin as both teams shot a 291.

Pepperdine finished in seventh place.

Hoffenberg and Kang were tied for the individual lead entering play on Tuesday. Hoffenberg shot a final-round 73 to win his first collegiate tournament with a 2-over 212, two shots better than Kang and three better than Spaun.

The Waves were led by senior Josh Anderson (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley HS), who tied for fourth place with a 6-over 216 (69-72-75). In seven tournaments this season, he's had five top-10 finishes and six top-20 results.

Also for the Waves, junior Johnny Mac Arthur (Newhall, Calif./Hart HS) tied for 18th place at 222 (71-77-74), good for his sixth top-20 finish in seven tournaments this season. Sophomore Parker Page (Louisville, Ky./Ballard HS) tied for 39th at 231 (73-81-77), freshman Caston Roberts (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert Christian HS) tied for 56th at 237 (78-78-81) and freshman Kevin DeHuff (Coto de Caza, Calif./Santa Margarita HS) tied for 63rd at 241 (76-82-83).

Competing as individuals, Pepperdine sophomore Andreas Adler (Parkview, Hong Kong/Hills International College) and freshman Neil Evans (Phoenix, Ariz./Scottsdale Christian Academy) both tied for 66th place at 244.

This was USC's tournament from 1978-2011, though host duties were handed off to Pepperdine this year so that the Trojans may focus on putting on the 2012 NCAA Championships.

Pepperdine is next in action at the General Hackler Championship, hosted by Coastal Carolina, on March 11-12.
