Both the Waves and the Horned Frogs are taking part in the San Diego Classic, which begins on Monday.
Robin Kang and Ian Mankoff will join the Waves as freshmen in 2013-14.
The tournament will be held at the par-72, 7,223-yard Makai Golf Club at the St. Regis Princeville Resort in Princeville, Kaua'i, Hawai'i.
Geiberger won an NCAA championship in his first season with Pepperdine in 1997.
Eighteen holes will be played each day between Friday and Sunday (Oct. 12-14).
Four-year Pepperdine letterwinner Carl Smith is in his second season as an assistant men's golf coach in 2012-13.
During his first season with the Waves, Smith helped coach Josh Anderson to medalist honors at the NCAA West Regional and to a tie for 37th place at the 2012 NCAA Championships.
After graduating in 2010, Smith was an assistant pro at Calabasas Country Club and Sunset Hills Country Club and also played professionally, making appearances on the Dakotas Tour, the Golden State Tour and various state opens.
"Carl is going to bring enthusiasm and energy to the position and is going to be a great example for our younger players," said head coach John Geiberger at Smith's hiring. "He's got such a great knowledge of the game. He's been through the school and the program and he knows what Pepperdine is all about. He can teach that and be a great leader for the team."
Smith earned All-West Coast Conference honors three times between 2007 and 2010, including a spot on the first team as a senior. He was an honorable mention selection as a freshman and sophomore.
"To have a chance to come back to my alma mater and work with Coach Geiberger again is a tremendous opportunity," Smith said. "I'd like to take the skills and knowledge that I gained here through my playing experience and hand them down to our current student-athletes. I feel I can be a good mentor. I was just here and can tell them how it's done, and how to be successful as a student-athlete."
Smith helped Pepperdine to two WCC championships (2007 and 2010). As a senior, he placed a career-best second as an individual. He was also the Waves' top scorer at the 2008 conference tournament, when he tied for seventh place.
Over his five seasons (he redshirted in 2005-06), Smith played in 44 tournaments and averaged 74.94 strokes over 129 rounds. As a freshman in 2007, he was Pepperdine's top scorer at the NCAA West Regional, where he posted a career-best score of a 9-under 207. At the time it was the fourth-best 54-hole score in Pepperdine postseason history.
A native of Laguna Beach, Calif., Smith attended Santa Margarita High School in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. He graduated from Pepperdine in 2010 with a degree in organizational communications.
