Pepperdine enjoyed a brief but successful run in the sport of football at the old Los Angeles campus. The Waves went 8-1 overall in the inaugural season of 1946, which included a win over Nebraska Wesleyan in the Will Rogers Bowl. The 1947 season was even better, as Pepperdine went a perfect 9-0 and was awarded the title of the national's best small-college football team by the Helms Athletic Foundation.
Pepperdine was unable to reach those heights again, however, though there were some good seasons. Unfortunately, the program was eventually dropped after the 1961 season.
So that we will never forget Pepperdine's glory days on the gridiron, the following pages have been created to memorialize the sport's existence at George Pepperdine College.
