MALIBU, Calif. -- The Pepperdine men's basketball team will head to Springfield, Mo., and the campus of Missouri State next week for its final two consolation games of the 2010 Dick's Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off, tournament officials announced today.

The Waves will face host Missouri State on Monday (Nov. 22) at 7 p.m. CT/5 p.m. PT, and will meet Arkansas State on Tuesday (Nov. 23) at 4:30 p.m. CT/2:30 p.m. PT. Both games are at the Bears' JQH Arena. Fans can listen to Al Epstein's broadcast of both games for free at www.pepperdinesports.com.

Before making the trip, Pepperdine (1-2) has its home opener this Saturday (Nov. 20) against CSU Bakersfield at 7 p.m. in Firestone Fieldhouse. The Waves lost to UCLA (79-69) and defeated Nevada (76-75) in the NIT West Regional at Pauley Pavilion earlier this week.

Missouri State is 2-1 after beating Arkansas State but falling to Tennessee in the final of the NIT's South Region. The Waves are 3-2 all-time against the Bears, but the last meeting was in 1974-75. Missouri State won the first two matchups and Pepperdine has won the last three. Pepperdine has only visited Springfield once, a 78-74 victory for the Bears in 1955-56.

Arkansas State is 0-3, having suffered losses to Ole Miss, Missouri State and Belmont. The Waves and the Red Wolves have met just once before, a 91-82 Pepperdine victory in the 2004 Office Depot Golden Bear Classic in Berkeley, Calif.

Pacific, who was also at the West Regional at Pauley Pavilion, is the fourth team competing at Missouri State's consolation event. Although Pepperdine and Pacific won't play each other in the NIT, they will have had plenty of in-person opportunities to scout each other in advance of their December 1 meeting in Stockton.
