Moment #9: Bell Scores 32 Points in Win at USF
Beginning on Monday (June 8) and continuing over a two-week period, PepperdineSports.com will count down the top 10 athletic moments of the 2008-09 school year. One highlight will be posted each weekday until the #1 moment is unveiled on Friday, June 19. The top moments were chosen as the result of balloting by members of Pepperdine's staff.
Jan. 29, 2009: The best individual offensive performance of the men's basketball season came in a WCC contest at San Francisco, as freshman guard Keion Bell scored a season-high 32 points on 13-for-14 shooting.
The win was the Waves' first on the road of the 2008-09 season. They led for nearly the entire contest and ended a six-game losing streak to the Dons.
Bell hit his first nine shots of the game and sank all four of his three-pointers. He finished two points shy of Pepperdine's freshman record (34 by Tyrone Shelley the previous season) and one field goal made short of tying the school record for single-game field goal percentage (14-for-14 by Dana Jones in 1991).
