PEPPERDINE 2012-13: Earned Pepperdine's first WCC Newcomer of the Year award since 2003 ... Was also picked to the WCC All-Freshman team and the All-WCC honorable mention squad ... Became the first Pepperdine freshman to earn an All-WCC placement since 2008 ... While the WCC award was voted on by the coaches, he also earned unanimous approval as the league's freshman/newcomer of the year by various media that gave an opinion ... Averaged 11.2 points and a team-high 7.3 rebounds in 30.4 minutes ... Played in all 30 games and started 25 ... Finished seventh overall in rebounding in the WCC and 22nd in scoring ... Was also 14th in free throw percentage (75.0%) ... In league play, averaged 10.7 points (tied for 21st) and 7.3 rebounds (tied for sixth) ... HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Betty Fairfax High School, located in Laveen, Ariz., in 2012 ... Spent his first three years at Tolleson (Ariz.) Union High School ... As a senior at Fairfax, was named to the Arizona Republic Division II all-state second team ... Averaged 20.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steals while shooting 59% from the field ... Helped Fairfax to a 25-5 record and the Division II state quarterfinals ... Earned all-state 5A honorable mention honors as a sophomore and junior at Tolleson ... Averaged 22.9 points and 9.7 rebounds as a junior ... Was also named to the Arizona Republic's All-West Valley first team ...
