MALIBU, Calif. – Pepperdine baseball is pleased to announce the signing of 6-0 OF Jack Ross (Gilroy, Calif./Palma HS) to a National Letters of Intent to compete at Pepperdine in the 2014 season as released today by head coach Steve Rodriguez.

Pepperdine Baseball will release a new member of its 2014 class every Thursday on the official website of Pepperdine Athletics, PepperdineSports.com.

JACK ROSS, 6-0, 185, OF (Palma HS)
A three-year varsity starter at Palma High School, Ross is a two-time Tri-County Athletic League and all-Monterey County first team selection after hitting better than .400 as a sophomore and junior for the Chieftains. Named to the 2012 CalHi Sports All-Underclass State Second Team, Ross competed for the USA Baseball NTIS Northern California Team last summer. Ross will be the second member of his family to compete for Pepperdine Athletics. His sister, Jessica, played for the basketball team (2006-09) and helped the Waves to an NCAA appearance during her freshman season.

Why Ross Chose Pepperdine: “I chose Pepperdine because of the great coaching staff, the beautiful location, its outstanding business program and its great baseball tradition.”

Coach Rodriguez on Ross: “Jack is a baseball player. Plain and simple. He plays the game the way it is supposed to be played.  He is a quiet young man who will make the people around him better by how he works. He has a family history here at Pepperdine, so he is going to be a perfect fit in all aspects both on and off the field.”
