Worth, Enright Get Major League Call-Ups
MALIBU, Calif.- Danny Worth of the Detroit Tigers and Barry Enright of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have earned September call-ups to the Major Leagues, bringing the total number of Pepperdine products currently in the big leagues to five.
Worth, who broke into the Majors with Detroit in 2010, has already played for the Tigers in 2012. The infielder batted .206 in 36 games earlier this season and has bounced between AAA Toledo and Detroit this year.
Enright last pitched in the Majors with Arizona in 2010 and 2011. He was traded to the Angels in late July and was doing well for their AAA team in Salt Lake City. In eight starts since being dealt he had a 2.73 ERA in 52 innings.
They join Dan Haren (Angels), Eric Thames (Seattle Mariners) and Randy Wolf (Baltimore Orioles).
A total of seven former Pepperdine players have worn a Major League uniform this season. Chase d'Arnaud, spent a few days with Pittsburgh in late August before being sent back down without appearing in a game. Will Ohman pitched for the Chicago White Sox this season before being released, and is now with the Cincinnati Reds' AAA team.
