Davidson Named a California Collegiate League Top Performer

MALIBU, Calif. - Sophomore infielder Austin Davidson was named a top performer of the California Collegiate League, according to Perfect Game USA. He was one of 21 CCL players recognized, and the only student-athlete from the West Coast Conference.

Davidson (Oxnard, Calif./Oxnard HS) spent the summer playing for the Santa Barbara Foresters, helping the team to tie for tops in the league with a 20-10 overall record. Playing close to home, Davidson has batted .290 through 30 games, collecting six doubles, a home run and 16 RBIs. He also had an impressive .407 on base percentage and swiped four bags. He represented the Foresters as a CCL All-Star in mid-July. His batting average is third-best on the team.

Davidson and the Foresters are currently defending their 2011 NBC championship at the 2012 NBC World Series in Wichita, Kan. Through six games they are 5-1 and will play the El Dorado Broncos at 6:30 p.m. PT on Friday, Aug. 10 in a semifinal game. The winner will advance to the NBC World Series championship game.
