Pepperdine Baseball 2014 Season Preview
Feb. 12, 2014
MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine baseball team opens play this week and with the start of the 2014 campaign around the corner, pepperdinesports.com will be giving you an advanced look at this year’s squad as well as sitting down with Head Coach Steve Rodriguez and some key returners.
The Waves open play Friday at Eddy D. Field Stadium, hosting St. John’s for the first of a three game series. Pepperdine was selected second in the WCC Preseason Coaches Poll and was one of just two teams with three players named to the Preseason All-WCC Team.
Rodriguez, who begins his 11th season at the helm for the Waves, enters the year with a strong cast of returning players and an influx of young talent as well.
“It remains to be seen what the identity of this team is, but I really think we have a great group of veteran guys and have brought in some good young players to go with them,” said Rodriguez. “This is one of the more experienced teams I have had and if they do the right things, and play the way they are supposed to, they can be very successful.”
