MALIBU, Calif. - Twelve members of Pepperdine's men's and women's cross country teams earned West Coast Conference All-Academic honors on Tuesday, with Jesse Aston, Hannah DeWalt and Lauren Lodge earning spots on the first teams.

To qualify for WCC All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.20 grade-point average, be at least a sophomore and have competed in at least 50 percent of the season's events.

Cross country has long had an impressive academic record, and this season is no exception. Of Pepperdine's non-freshmen that ran a race this season, 12 of 14 runners (86 percent) received all-academic recognition.

Lodge (Hopkinton, Mass/Hopkinton HS), a senior who was the Waves' top finisher at last weekend's WCC Championships, is the first Pepperdine woman to earn three-time first team all-academic honors. She is an accounting major.

DeWalt (Gig Harbor, Wash./Gig Harbor HS), a senior sports medicine major, earned all-academic honorable mention from the WCC as a sophomore and a junior. She has finished in Pepperdine's top five at four of five meets this season.

Aston (Martinez, Calif./Alhambra HS), a sophomore English major, earned his first WCC All-Academic award. He has been the Waves' #2 runner on three occasions this season, including last week's WCC Championships.

Six women received honorable mention notice: seniors Paige Mobley (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley HS), LeeAndrea Morton (Dallas, Texas/Plano West HS) and Courtney Rolando (Longmont, Colo./Silver Creek HS), junior Sarah Goodman (Issaquah, Wash./Liberty HS) and sophomores Sarah Attar (Escondido, Calif./Escondido HS) and Adrianna Davies (Coronado, Calif./Coronado HS). Mobley was named to the honorable mention team for the third time.

Three men earned WCC All-Academic honorable mention status: seniors Kenny Smith (Willits, Calif./Willits HS) and Jordan Wozniak (Irvine, Calif./Woodbridge HS) and junior Jonathan Rahaeuser (Irvine, Calif./Calvary Chapel HS). Wozniak is a three-time all-academic receipient (including the 2010 first team) and Smith was honored for the second time (including the 2009 first team).

Pepperdine will close out cross country season at the NCAA West Regional, hosted by Stanford, on Saturday, Nov. 12.
