ACADEMIC AWARDS: Earned WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll "gold" honors and was a Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete in 2014-15.

PEPPERDINE XC 2014: Ran at all six meets as a freshman ... Was Pepperdine's top runner a team-best three times ... One was at the WCC Championships, where he ran a season-best 8k in 25:32.9 ... The other two were the Mark Covert Classic and the Stanford Invitational ... Was the team's #2 runner at the NCAA West Regional.

PEPPERDINE TRACK 2015: Competed at five meets as a freshman ... Had the team's fastest 5,000 meters of the season, a 15:31.43 at UC Irvine (3/21) ... Won the 5,000 meters at the Cunningham Track Classic (3/7) ... Also ran the 1,500 twice with a 4:08.36 at the Ben Brown Invitational (3/14).

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Citrus Valley High School, located in Redlands, Calif., in 2014 ... Earned All-Mountain Valley League second team honors and was the school's Runner of the Year in cross country as a senior ... Ran three years of varsity cross country and two years of track ... Also earned leadership and attitude awards from the team in cross country ... Earned valedictorian honors.

CLUB: Ran with the So Cal Roadrunners.

PERSONAL: Born in Redlands, Calif. ... Son of Kristina Maeda and Matthew Maeda Has two siblings, Kaylee and Melanie ... A grandfather, Chester Maeda, played professional football with the Chicago Cardinals ... Majoring in chemistry ... Chose to attend Pepperdine because "besides the perfect weather for running and the view, the coaching staff and welcoming atmosphere guided me to choose Pepperdine."

FAVORITES: Enjoys riding a road bike and going rock climbing ... Favorites include Ryan Hall (pro athlete), Los Angeles Kings (pro team), The Invisible Man (book), The Long Green Line (movie), Chuck (TV show), Zedd (musical artist), burritos (food) and hockey (sport other than soccer) ... Favorite things about running are "the camaraderie associated with running as well as the sense of accomplishment after finishing a race. Also, on a long run, I enjoy the calming effect running can have on my mind."
