Pepperdine Men And Women Capture Events At Cal Lutheran Festival

The Pepperdine men's and women's cross country teams both captured their events at the Cal Lutheran Festival on Saturday. The men's team out-distanced the field in the 8K run with 38 points, while the women won the 5K race with 26 points.

Sophomore Chad Trammell led the Waves on the men's side, placing third with a time of 29:03.2. Junior Ed Leon and freshman Neal Washburn registered Top 10 finishes with times of 30:05.6 and 30:06.1, respectively.

Led by sophomore Lauren Tyree's second place finish on the women's side, Pepperdine had five runners finish in Top 10. Tyree posted a time of 21:09.1 to finish behind Mary Biggs of Ventura College.

Freshman Karen Porter placed third with a time of 21:26.0, while freshman Tarrah Crowley (21:32.8) and senior Christine Carter (21:40.5) finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Senior Jennifer Crossland, running in her first event of the season, placed 10th with a time of 21:54.0.

Pepperdine is next in action on Saturday, October 4, when it hosts San Diego in a dual meet in Malibu. The men's race is schedule for 9:30 a.m. with the women's event to follow at 10 a.m.
