Track Teams Open 2013 Season at Westmont on Saturday

Of the 26 people on the women's roster, 14 are in their first year running track for the Waves.

PEPPERDINE TRACK 2013: Competed at five track meets as a freshman ... Ran the 800 meters most of the time, with a best of 2:23.25 at the Ben Brown Invitational (3/9) ... Had the team's best time of the year in the 1,500 meters (5:05.12 at North Florida on 3/2) ... Also ran the 400 once (64.17 at Cal State L.A. on 4/6) ... Was part of the school-record-setting 4x400 relay team (4:01.38 at Pomona-Pitzer on 4/13).

PEPPERDINE XC 2012: Ran at all seven races as a freshman, the only Wave to do so ... Was the team's top finisher at the Titan Invitational ... Best 5k time was 20:14.75 at the Northridge Collegiate Invitational and 6k was 24:24.9 at the UC Riverside Invitational ... Was one of three women to compete at the NCAA West Regional.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Holy Names Academy, located in Seattle, Wash., in 2012 ... Ran four years of track (400 and 800 meters) and cross country ... Placed seventh in the 800 at the state meet as both a senior and junior .. Had third-place state finishes in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays ... Team won Metro League championships from 2009-12, District championships in 2010 and 2011 and a state championship in 2011 ... Also played junior varsity volleyball ... Says about running, "I am not exaggerating when I say track defines who I am. The track has tested my will, tenacity and character when I first stepped onto it when I was 9. When I had a life-threatening infection, the thought of running is what kept me going. Running has been more than an outlet, it has been my most honest form of self-expression and inspiration."
