Track Season Begins Saturday at Westmont

The women's squad consists of 12 returners and 10 newcomers.

PEPPERDINE 2012: Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete ... Appeared in three races as a senior ... Ran the 5,000 meters twice (including a 15:25.96 at the North Florida meet on 3/2) and the 1,500 meters once (a 4:11.02 at the Cal State Fullerton Ben Brown meet on 3/10).

PEPPERDINE 2011: Did not run track as a junior.

PEPPERDINE 2010: As a sophomore, recorded the team's fastest times in the 3K and steeplechase with marks of 8:52.25 (3/5 at South Florida Open) and 9:41.52 (4/9 at Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational), respectively.

PEPPERDINE 2009: As a freshman, established the school record time of 9:45.37 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at UCLA's Johnson/Joyner Kersee Invitational (4/10) ... Helped set a varsity record mark of 10:53.21 in the distance medley relay, running the first leg for a group that featured Derek Pesta, Henri Floris and Seth Allison ... Ranked as the Waves' second fastest runner in the 3,000-meter run to teammate Conrad Wozniak with a season best time of 8:55.79 ... Posted a season best time of 15:39.01 in the 5K at the Cal State Northridge Relays (3/14).

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Willits (Calif.) High School in 2008 ... Was the class Valedictorian ... A four-year varsity track and cross country letterwinner for head coach, and father, Dave Smith ... Career best marks include a 4:31 mile, a time of 9:53 in the two-mile run and a 16:02 in the 5K ...
