The season begins Saturday at Westmont.
Of the 26 people on the women's roster, 14 are in their first year running track for the Waves.
Morgan Franz spent two seasons (2012-13 and 2013-14) serving as a Pepperdine cross country and track volunteer assistant coach.
During spring 2013, she helped the Waves' hurdlers to break the school record in the 100 meters and two others to place their names among Pepperdine's all-time top five in the 400 meters.
Franz is currently working on a juris doctorate from the Pepperdine School of Law and expects to graduate in May 2014. She serves as a note and comment editor for the Pepperdine Law Review and is a member of the moot court team.
She graduated in 2007 from Azusa Pacific University, where she was a seven-time NAIA All-American in the pentathlon, heptathlon and pole vault. Franz was part of the NAIA national championship teams.
Before starting law school, Franz taught high school English and coached track at John C. Fremont High School in Los Angeles and at Lincoln Ninth Grade Academy in Rapid City, S.D. She was also active as a YoungLife mentor.
Her husband, Jacob, is also a third-year law student at Pepperdine.
