Experienced runner Mekka Edwards-White joined the Pepperdine cross country and track teams as an assistant coach for the 2013-14 season.
She ran both cross country and track at Los Angeles Valley College, then transferred to the University of Texas-Pan American, where she competed in two seasons of cross country, two seasons of indoor track and one season of outdoor track.
At Valley College, Edwards-White won the California state title in the 800 meters in both 2008 and 2009. She also ran at the CCCAA cross country state meet in both 2007 and 2008.
She graduated from UTPA in 2012 with a dual degree in psychology and criminal justice, then went on to complete a master's degree in applied gerontology in 2013 from Brenau University. She is planning on attending medical school in the near future.
