Riptide is the student spirit club for Pepperdine Athletics. Organized in the late 1990's to better support Pepperdine sports teams, Riptide has become the largest student organization on campus (750 members and counting!). Members pride themselves on creating a hostile envirtonment for opposing teams while still being ambassadors of sportsmanship as fans. A part of Pepperdine's Inter Club Council, all students wanting to get involved in campus life should become active Riptide members!
We, the family of Riptide, come together to passionately support our teams. We are the student body, and we build school spirit, unity, and pride. While supporting our athletics, we guarantee crazy, random, and affordable fun. Our traditions and individual attitudes reflect the Christian values of Pepperdine, and our passion and commitment strike fear into the hearts of opposing schools - our crew bleeds orange and blue.
All Pepperdine students may sign up to be members of Riptide. However, since Riptide is a self-sufficient organization, members must pay a one-time fee when signing up. All membership fee money pays for the yearly Riptide shirt, giveaways, tailgates, and local road trips.
Download the Riptide Application and send it in with payment, or sign up at any one of a number of sporting events at the beginning of each semester. Riptide always has a booth at the "Waves Expo," part of New Student Orientation. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail riptide@pepperdine.edu.
Although all Pepperdine students receive free admission into all athletic home events, Riptide members do receive many exclusive benefits throughout the year:
The Ripboard consists of the group of students who lead Riptide. Volunteering much of their free time to organizing and promoting Pepperdine sporting events, the Ripboard truly is comprised of the most spirited students on campus.
