Pepperdine Celebrates Student-Athletes at Annual Honors Banquet

Karina Herold was named Pepperdine's Associate Director of Athletics for Marketing in July 2011.

She is responsible for acquiring and maintaining corporate sponsorships as well as overseeing all of the Waves' marketing and promotional efforts, including sales, branding, strategic partnerships and game management. Herold will also serve as the Tournament Manager for the 2013 NCAA Men's Basketball West Regional Championship at Staples Center, which is being hosted by Pepperdine University.

Before joining Pepperdine, Herold was the Sports & Entertainment Sales Director for the LA Sports & Entertainment Commission (LASEC), where she was responsible for attracting major sporting and entertainment events to the Los Angeles area by fostering relationships with area colleges and universities and appropriate governing bodies and leagues.

Herold's other responsibilities included managing new business development, corporate and community partnerships, and marketing including LASEC's website and social media campaigns.

Prior to her time at LASEC, Herold was a governance intern at the NCAA for one year.

Herold earned her bachelor's degree in human development at UC San Diego in 2005, and was a three-year letterwinner for the Tritons' women's basketball team. She also served as a marketing intern at UCSD while she was a student. Herold went on to earn both an MBA and a master's of science in sport management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2008.

She is a member of the LA Sports & Entertainment Commission Advisory Board, on the Board of Directors for Get in the Game and the Friends of Expo, and a member and mentor of the LASEC Young Leadership Forum and Women in Sports & Events (WISE).

Herold was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. She and her husband, Glen, have a son, Nicholas.
