This Week at Pepperdine: February 24-March 2

MALIBU, Calif. - The men's basketball team wraps up the regular season in Firestone Fieldhouse, while the men's and women's tennis teams also see action on campus. Most of Pepperdine's teams will be traveling during Spring Break.
The baseball team heads to Hawaii, while the men's volleyball team visits Cal Baptist and BYU and the women's basketball team ends the WCC season in the Bay Area. The golf teams are competing locally (the men are hosting the Jones Invitational at Saticoy Country Club) and the track team will be in Florida and Georgia for Project Serve and a meet.

Here's a look at the week's events:
Thursday: vs. San Francisco (Firestone Fieldhouse), 7 p.m.
The Pepperdine men's basketball team is assured of a top-six finish in the WCC and now sets its sights on a top-half finish and a winning record in league play as the Waves wrap up the regular season with home games against San Francisco and Santa Clara. Brendan Lane, Nikolas Skouen and Malte Kramer (who was named an Academic All-American last week) will be honored on Senior Night. Following last week's win against rival LMU, it's the last chance to take some momentum into the WCC Tournament, which the Waves will begin in the quarterfinals on March 8.
Wednesday: at Hawaii (Honolulu, Hawaii), 8:35 p.m. PT
After playing its first seven games of the year at home, the baseball team heads to Hawaii this week for its first road test of the season. The Waves look to improve on their 6-1 record with four games against Hawaii at Les Murakami Stadium. Pepperdine is coming off a sweep of Utah Valley in which Corey Miller tossed a complete-game two-hitter to open the series and then Aaron Brown ended it with an 11th-inning walk-off homer.
Thursday: at San Francisco (San Francisco, Calif.), 7 p.m.
The regular season comes to a close for the women's basketball team this week, as the Waves head to the Bay Area for a pair of games. Pepperdine is coming off a week in which they fell to a pair of NCAA tournament hopefuls in BYU and San Diego and will be looking to build some momentum heading into the WCC Tournament on March 6-11 in Las Vegas.
Thursday: at California Baptist (Riverside, Calif.), 7 p.m.
Pepperdine gets set for a crucial two-match road swing, paying visits to Cal Baptist and BYU. The Waves defeated the Lancers 3-1 last Saturday at home and will be looking for the series sweep on Thursday in Riverside. On Saturday, Pepperdine faces MPSF leader BYU inside Smith Fieldhouse. The Cougars have yet to lose at home in 2014 and boast a 10-1 record in league play. The Waves are responsible for BYU's lone MPSF loss, and currently sit in third place in the MPSF with an 8-3 record.
Wednesday: vs. Nevada (Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center), 10 a.m.
The Pepperdine men's tennis team returns to the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center this week to host a non-conference doubleheader featuring Nevada and UC Irvine on Wednesday. The busy Spring Break week continues when the Waves travel to La Jolla, Calif. to compete at the 125th Annual Pacific Coast Doubles Championship starting Thursday. On Saturday, Pepperdine will face William & Mary in a neutral-court meeting. The match is scheduled to take place after doubles action has wrapped for the day at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club.
Wednesday: at Memphis (Memphis, Tenn.), 10 a.m. PT
After nearly upsetting #12 Vanderbilt on the road, the Waves continue their Spring Break tour of Tennessee with a dual vs. #32 Memphis on Tuesday. Pepperdine then returns to Malibu to host Hawaii on Saturday. Ale Granillo and Matea Cutura, last week's WCC Doubles Team of the Week, enter this week's action on a five-match win streak, while Lorraine Guillermo holds down the No. 1 spot in the singles lineup with a 5-2 record.
Monday-Tuesday: hosting the Jones Invitational (Somis, Calif.)
Pepperdine is back at Saticoy Country Club for the first time since 2007 as the Waves host the Jones Invitational today and Tuesday. Twelve teams are in the field, and Pepperdine will be looking to win its own tournament for the fifth time with a lineup of Jeremy Sanders, Frederick Wedel, Kevin DeHuff, Parker Page and David Pelekoudas.
Monday-Tuesday: at UC Irvine Invitational (Santa Ana, Calif.)
The #11 Waves will the second-highest-ranked team in the field at the UC Irvine Invitational, being held Monday and Tuesday at Santa Ana Country Club. Pepperdine will be going for its third tournament win of 2013-14 with a lineup of Grace Na, Liv Cheng, Somin Lee, Alina Ching and Marissa Chow.
Saturday: at Savannah State Relays (Savannah, Ga.)
The track team makes its annual trip east for Spring Break. As usual, the team will spend a few days volunteering at the Hope Children's Home and training in Tampa, Fla. The site of this year's track meet is new, however, as the Waves will head to the Savannah State Relays on Saturday.
