MALIBU, Calif. -- Fans of the Pepperdine men's and women's basketball teams will get their first look at the 2009-10 squads this Friday night (Oct. 16) at the annual Blue & Orange Madness event in Firestone Fieldhouse.

Also, fans that aren't able to make it to Malibu will be able to watch online here at www.pepperdinesports.com. As part of a special free preview for basketball season, the broadcast will be available for all to see.

The event begins at 7 p.m. in the ""Madness Village" that will be created in the Firestone Fieldhouse parking lot. Doors will open to Firestone Fieldhouse at 8:30 p.m. Blue & Orange Madness (and the webcast) will get started at 8:45 p.m.

The carnival-like activities at "Madness Village" will include a broad range of complimentary food (including In-N-Out and Domino's Pizza), stunt shows, games, interactive activities, live musical performances and raffles for prizes donated by Malibu businesses.

At the Blue & Orange Madness event in the Fieldhouse, both men's and women's basketball teams will be introduced. The men's basketball team will conduct a short scrimmage, there will be a three-point contest involving both teams and the event will conclude with a slam-dunk contest.

Other highlights include a halfcourt shot for tuition by both a lucky Pepperdine student and parent, a special halftime show by Hit the Floor Productions and performances by the cheerleaders, dance team, step team and Pepp Band. The basketball teams, cheerleaders and Willie the Wave have also been working hard on a surprise performance that will be unveiled that night.
